clinic day 5/19/10

#1 j migraines:
-nei jing says liver 肝 governs the neck. this may be because when LV
inflammation or disorder occurs, it irritates the diaphragm, which is
governed by the phrenic nerve, which leads back to the area of the
neck around C3-C5.

-therefore, calming the LV can relieve neck pain in this area.

-SJ5 外關 (wai\guan, 三焦 luo, confluent point for yang wei?) for
Shao Yang HA, in this case, temporal pain near SJ23 絲竹空 (si zhu/
kong), SJ22 和髎 (he/liao/) or GB4, GB5, GB6 or GB13, GB14, GB15.

-SP9 陰陵泉 (yin ling/quan/ yin mound spring, he sea point), in this
case Japanese posterior SP9, relieves back pain indicated by GB21 肩
井 (jian jing3 shoulder well jiao hui of 膽,三焦,胃, 陽wei)
tenderness.

-GB40 丘墟 (qiu xu, hill ruins, yuan) for GB heat (also LV qi stag,
GB damp heat, clears channels)

-LV2 行間 (xing/jian, 火, sedating, ying spring, son (reducing
point)), drains LV fire, cools blood heat, extinguishes wind.
